Inspired MBAs

During the weekend of October 4-6, 2013, over 35 people - MBAs, partners, and external participants - met on the INSEAD Fontainebleau campus to go through the intensive and challenging Social Entrepreneurship Bootcamp.

Over the course of the weeekend, students went from individuals, to teams working on innovative social ventures. Some of the ideas from the weekend....
  • a web site to help connect artists with the public, encouraging income opportunities and promoting creativity,
  • a skills training programme to help young South Africans find gainful employment,
  • a women's empowerment network focused on building entrepreneurship,
  • a fashion-oriented organisation which would link artisans to customers,
  • an on-line business connecting local farmers to customers in Sweden

With the guidance of Christine Driscoll Goulay, Associate Director of the INSEAD Social Entrepreneurship Intiative, and metnors, Charlotte Hochman of La Ruche and Caroline Watson of Hua Dan, students were led through a framework to help structure and build their ideas.

On Sunday evening, the teams pitched to a judging panel composed of Chloe Tuot of PhiTrust Partenaires in Paris, Majid El Jarroudi of Adive.fr and Michael Otten of Green Chimneys.  The pitches were impressive - so much covered in such a short period of time. The judges voted for "Toc Doc Doc" as the winning team, which aimed to bring medical services to remote rural regions of Vanuatu.

Congratulations to all participants. We are looking forward to the upcoming bootcamp in Singapore from November 29-31, 2013.
